Customs Entry Writer

We are seeking an experienced Customs Entry Writer with 2–4 years of customs brokerage and import experience to join a fast-paced logistics team. This position is ideal for someone who has hands-on experience preparing customs entries, working with FDA-regulated commodities and Partner Government Agencies (PGAs), and managing entries through CargoWise.

The ideal candidate understands the import clearance process from document review through release and can accurately classify products, prepare entries, resolve documentation issues, and communicate with customers, CBP, FDA, carriers, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and transmit customs entries accurately and within required deadlines.

• Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, arrival notices, and other import documentation.

• Handle entries involving FDA-regulated commodities and other Partner Government Agencies (PGAs).

• Submit and monitor FDA and PGA information required for customs clearance.

• Research and apply appropriate HTS classifications, duty rates, and applicable regulations.

• Process entries and maintain shipment information in CargoWise.

• Monitor shipments for CBP or FDA holds, exams, documentation requests, and release status.

• Identify missing or incorrect documentation and work with customers or vendors to resolve discrepancies.

• Communicate with importers, freight forwarders, carriers, government agencies, and internal operations teams.

• Maintain accurate entry records and ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and applicable government regulations.

• Follow shipments through final customs release and assist with post-entry corrections or documentation when necessary.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of Customs Entry Writing, Customs Brokerage, or similar import experience.

• Hands-on experience with FDA-regulated imports.

• Knowledge of Partner Government Agency requirements.

• Experience using CargoWise strongly preferred.

• Working knowledge of HTS classification and U.S. Customs entry procedures.

• Experience reviewing commercial invoices, packing lists, and transportation documents.

• Familiarity with CBP regulations, customs holds, exams, and release procedures.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple entries and deadlines simultaneously.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced freight forwarding or customs brokerage environment.

Compensation

• Starting salary: $60,000 annually
