Executive Opportunity

A growing telecommunications and infrastructure services organization is seeking a hands-on Senior Vice President of Operations to lead companywide operations, project execution, financial performance, and field delivery.

This executive will have direct responsibility for P&L performance, revenue growth, gross margin, EBITDA, cash flow, workforce productivity, project delivery, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The SVP of Operations will translate executive strategy into disciplined operating plans that deliver projects safely, profitably, and on schedule.

The organization supports infrastructure projects involving wireless communications, tower construction and modifications, fiber construction, critical power, raw-land development, electrical construction, utilities, and mission-critical infrastructure.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished telecom or infrastructure operations executive who wants to play a central role in scaling a growing organization. This is not an office-only position. The successful candidate will maintain an active presence with field teams, operating leaders, and customers throughout the company’s multi-state footprint.

What You’ll Lead

Operational and Financial Performance

  • Lead daily operations across multiple business units, markets, customers, projects, and operating locations.
  • Own revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, cash flow, and operational performance objectives.
  • Translate corporate strategy into clear operating plans, priorities, performance metrics, and measurable results.
  • Establish a consistent operating cadence covering backlog, revenue conversion, project margins, staffing, billing, collections, customer commitments, and operational risks.
  • Improve the accuracy and predictability of revenue, margin, resource, and cash-flow forecasts.
  • Identify performance gaps early and lead corrective actions through completion.
  • Develop scalable processes and operating systems that support profitable growth.

Telecom Construction and Project Execution

  • Oversee the complete project lifecycle, including estimating, scoping, staffing, scheduling, construction, documentation, closeout, and billing.
  • Convert project backlog into profitable revenue while protecting customer relationships and project margins.
  • Monitor project status, job costs, labor productivity, subcontractor performance, estimated cost to complete, margin at completion, and execution risks.
  • Lead recovery plans for underperforming projects and customer programs.
  • Ensure change orders, additional work authorizations, and customer approvals are properly documented and billed promptly.
  • Establish consistent project management and field execution standards.
  • Strengthen coordination among estimating, project management, construction management, field operations, finance, purchasing, and billing.

Workforce and Capacity Planning

  • Align labor, field crews, subcontractors, equipment, and leadership capacity with backlog and anticipated project awards.
  • Deploy resources effectively across customers, projects, and geographic markets.
  • Improve labor productivity, workforce utilization, project scheduling, and field efficiency.
  • Establish consistent processes for subcontractor selection, onboarding, utilization, performance management, and capacity planning.
  • Anticipate staffing and resource constraints before they affect customer commitments or financial performance.
  • Build the operational infrastructure needed to support new markets, service lines, and acquisitions.

Customer and Account Leadership

  • Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with key customers.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for project delivery, operational, and customer-service issues.
  • Ensure customer expectations are consistently met for safety, quality, scheduling, documentation, responsiveness, and communication.
  • Partner with executive leadership and business development to expand existing accounts and launch new customer programs.
  • Lead customer performance reviews, business reviews, and strategic account-planning meetings.
  • Build strong institutional customer relationships across multiple levels of the organization.

Team Leadership and Accountability

  • Lead, coach, and develop project managers, construction managers, field leaders, and operations personnel.
  • Establish clear roles, decision-making authority, performance expectations, and accountability.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing operational leaders.
  • Address performance concerns directly and promptly.
  • Build a culture centered on safety, urgency, accountability, transparency, teamwork, and customer service.
  • Develop succession plans and strengthen leadership depth throughout the organization.

Safety, Quality, and Compliance

  • Champion a safety-first culture across all field and operational activities.
  • Partner with Environmental, Health, and Safety leadership to ensure compliance with OSHA, customer, company, and industry requirements.
  • Hold leaders accountable for safety training, documentation, incident prevention, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain high standards for workmanship, quality control, regulatory compliance, and customer acceptance.
  • Incorporate safety and quality performance into operating reviews and leadership evaluations.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of progressive operations leadership experience within telecommunications, wireless infrastructure, tower construction, fiber, critical power, electrical construction, utility services, data centers, specialty contracting, or a similar field-services organization.
  • Executive-level responsibility for a significant P&L in a project-based construction or infrastructure services business.
  • Experience leading project managers, construction managers, field crews, and subcontractors across multiple projects, customers, or geographic markets.

  • Privately held or private-equity-backed infrastructure services organizations.
  • Acquisition integration and new service-line development.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, engineering, operations, finance, or a related field.
  • Significant executive operations experience may be considered in place of a degree.
