Position Overview

A growing global logistics and freight-forwarding company is seeking an experienced Ocean Export Operations to join its Redondo Beach office.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing international ocean export shipments, including FCL and LCL cargo, export documentation, vessel bookings, container coordination, and customer communication. This position requires someone who is organized, proactive, cost-conscious, and able to take ownership of shipments from booking through final departure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage ocean export shipments from initial booking through final vessel departure.
  • Coordinate FCL and LCL shipments with customers, overseas agents, steamship lines, truckers, warehouses, terminals, and other service providers.
  • Book cargo and monitor vessel schedules, sailing dates, and shipment cutoffs.
  • Coordinate container pickup, drayage, warehouse delivery, terminal delivery, and empty-container returns.
  • Prepare and review export documentation, including:
    • Bills of lading
    • Commercial invoices
    • Packing lists
    • Shipping instructions
    • Other required international shipping documents
  • Monitor CY and CFS cutoff dates and ensure cargo is delivered on time.
  • Track shipment progress and proactively communicate updates, delays, and exceptions to customers.
  • Enter and maintain accurate shipment information in the freight-forwarding operating system.
  • Coordinate with overseas offices and international agents to ensure the smooth movement of cargo.
  • Review freight rates, charges, and shipment details for accuracy.
  • Resolve operational issues, documentation discrepancies, and customer requests.
  • Ensure shipments comply with customer, carrier, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain complete and accurate shipment records.
  • Make cost-conscious operational decisions that support shipment profitability.
  • Provide responsive, professional customer service throughout the shipping process.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, international transportation, or ocean export operations.
  • Working knowledge of international ocean freight procedures and export documentation.
  • Experience coordinating FCL and LCL shipments.
  • Understanding of ocean carrier bookings, vessel schedules, bills of lading, CY/CFS cutoffs, container movement, and drayage.
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments, deadlines, and customer priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general business software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using CargoWise or another freight-forwarding operating system.
  • Established relationships or experience working with steamship lines, truckers, warehouses, terminals, and overseas agents.
  • Knowledge of export compliance and international shipping regulations.
