 General Manager – Freight Forwarding (Bilingual English/Chinese)

Location: Walnut, CA| Full-Time | Pay: $85k +

Are you a seasoned leader ready to take charge of a thriving international freight forwarding business?

We are seeking a General Manager (GM) to oversee operations, strategy, and profitability across multiple service lines—including air, sea, and land freight, customs clearance, sales, and customer service.

This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll drive growth, ensure operational excellence, and foster strong client relationships, all while leading a diverse and high-performing team.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute growth strategies to expand market share in global freight forwarding.

  • Define performance goals and KPIs, ensuring teams exceed targets.

  • Identify new revenue streams and forge strategic partnerships.

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring on-time and cost-effective freight solutions.

  • Ensure compliance with international shipping laws, customs regulations, and trade requirements.

  • Champion process improvements and operational best practices.

Financial Management

  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.

  • Monitor costs and profitability, implementing measures to improve margins.

  • Balance cost control with exceptional customer service delivery.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and inspire teams across operations, sales, customer service, and finance.

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop talent to strengthen organizational capability.

  • Build a collaborative, performance-driven culture.

Customer & Vendor Relations

  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, carriers, agents, and service providers.

  • Ensure exceptional service delivery and client satisfaction.

  • Negotiate service agreements and vendor contracts to optimize performance.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Maintain strict adherence to international freight, customs, and trade regulations (IATA, FIATA, FMC).

  • Establish risk management and business continuity policies.

  • Keep the business aligned with evolving global logistics standards.


Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in freight forwarding/logistics, including 3–5 years in a senior management role.

  • In-depth knowledge of international shipping, Incoterms, customs clearance, and trade compliance.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Commercially minded with proven strategic and operational expertise.

  • Proficiency in logistics systems and freight management platforms.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (required).

  • Professional certifications (FIATA Diploma, CILT, CSCP) preferred.

  • Bilingual in English and Chinese is required.
