We are hiring immediately for a Parks and recreation seasonal opportunity! Gate house/Park Aide will be responsible for visitor services at park entrance. Collect fees, assign campsites to visitors, provide visitors with a variety of information, operate the computerized reservation system, and use the radio to transmit information to district staff.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required.

WORK HOURS: Work will be seasonal on a full-time basis; days and hours will vary with weekend and holiday work required

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office and field environment; may be exposed to inclement weather conditions

Must be able to operate a cash register, and a computer, and make change

Interpret and communicate district policies and recreation rules and regulations

Interact courteously with the public and district personnel

Take direction from district personnel and manage time effectively

Use good judgement when handling emergencies

Knowledge and use of proper radio etiquette

Must be able to prepare written reports

Remove obvious or excessive concentrated litter

Knowledge of proper personal protective equipment (PPE)

EDUCATION AND LICENSES:

8-12 Months of experience working with customers and a cash register is required

Must possess a valid CALIFORNIA Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record

Possession of CPR/ First Aid card is desirable

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS:

Fluent in English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation

Ability to read and interpret park rules and regulations

Ability to communicate verbally and in written format

Ability to answer a wide variety of questions from park visitors and district staff

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must possess physical characteristics to perform the essential functions of the job

Duties may require maintaining a physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, bending, and use of arms to direct traffic
