Arrive at least 15
minutes early .
Take TWO
clean copies of your resume with you.
When filling out the application,
fill in all of the blanks. If something does not apply,
write N/A and above all, NEVER write
please see resume or say, “but I have a resume
to avoid filling out the application.”
Dress professionally
– a dark suit (tie), white shirt or blouse.
(Woman:
Pearls, Pumps, and Pantyhose). No heavy perfume or overpowering
colognes.
Know your strengths
, be able to list at least three to
five (i.e. I am very organized) ,
also know your weaknesses (i.e. I tend to
be a yes person, but I always manage to get the job
done). Stay positive.
Be able to tell the interviewer
about yourself. Go back to where you came from, education
and job history .
Know your long and
short term goals .
Body language; it can
make or break you . Give a firm
handshake, keep good eye contact
, and lean forward in your chair when
the interviewer is speaking about the company or himself/herself;
it shows interest.
Salary Negotiations: Say
I am here for the career opportunity with your company,
or I am sure that you will present me with a fair offer.
Ask for the job!
In conclusion, ask the interviewer
if there is anything in your background that you have
not covered that would prevent you form going on to
the next interviewing step.
Thank him/her for taking the time
to meet with you, ask for their card, shake their hand
and again tell him/her that you want the
job .
Always follow up with
a Thank You letter or card .
You want the interviewer to remember you. Be
sure to spell & Grammar check yourself ;
anyone can make a mistake.
